Not sure of the need but with the many vacant buildings can any be used as permanent movie sets? Like an old school that can be adjusted as a set for any movie studio to use?

This is being done (converting empty building for film use) around the state from Detriot to Grand Rapids. However, with Governor Snyder's proposed $25,000,000 cap on film tax credits these buidings could raipdly return to vacant buidings.
The comment by Jeff Underhill is exactly correct and cities like Allen Park and Pontiac have a serious problem if they provided funding and/or tax breaks for businesses that may be gone tomorrow. The bigger question is how do we take advantage of all these existing vacant buildings of both commercial and residential nature. On a total cost basis, it should be far less costly to use them as they are already built, and all the infrastructure (roads, sewers, parking lots, electricity, etc.) in in place so there is no public or private money required for these. My opinon is that there should be incentives to use existing buildings and disincentives for building new when vacant space exists. It is a waste of everyone's resources to do otherwise.
