Commissioner's need to get back in touch with what's going on in their communities to better help to serve your voters. Maybe they could serve food at shelters, work at food closets, work one day at Michigan works. Get back in touch with what's really going on with real people.

Oakland County eGovernment
My commissioner is Bob Hoffman, and he is EVERYWHERE in District 2. He serves on the ZBA in Highland Township and on the DDA in Holly. He attends community events and charity events, as well as local municipal meetings. He makes a point of patronizing local businesses, and he knows many, many of our local merchants, as well as our local leaders and residents, by name.
If your county commissioner isn't doing all of these things, simply contact him or her and let them know you think they should.
The problem doesn't seem to be how a commissioner is representing his or her district (since everybody is always happy with the one they voted for!), it is how their choices may affect those in other districts. Your commissioner may know you by name, but he or she, may not give me the time of day, since I live elsewhere. (so. in short, I disagree with the idea)
